Our Sustainability and Circular Economy

We at Graham Packaging want to make a difference and contribute to a cleaner and safer world by growing in a responsible manner in all aspects (environmentally, socially, and economically).

Our Sustainability* and Circular Economy** journey is founded on advanced and innovative initiatives, deeper integration with all relevant actors, and an extended involvement of social dimensions into our decisions.

With a new Vision and Purpose for our Business supported by a pragmatic and efficient strategy, we are setting ourselves clear targets on each dimension of Sustainability:

  • Environment: Our priority is to act as a role model for the industry. This is possible through our manufacturing sites’ excellence, our value proposal with design and production of eco-friendlier products using as much recycled material as possible, helping our Customers to make the right choices with the application of Life Cycle Analysis and Eco Design, and with the main objective of considerably reducing our environmental footprint and supporting the Circular Economy.
  • Social Action: We will continue to develop on Safety initiatives and recognition, integration through multi-cultural approaches, gender equality as well as integral Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
  • Sustainable financial results***: All these will be possible by growing the business with purpose to maintain our financial long-term viability with integrity.

 * “Process of maintaining change in a balanced fashion, in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development, and institutional change are all in harmony and enhance both current and future potential to meet human needs and aspirations.”

(The World Commission on Environment and Development)

** “Regenerative system in which resource input and waste, emission, and energy leakage are minimized by slowing, closing, and narrowing energy and material loops through long-lasting design, maintenance, repair, reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishing, recycling, and upcycling.”

(“Towards the Circular Economy” Ellen MacArthur Foundation)

*** "Is about the core behavior of companies and the responsibility for their total impact on the societies in which they operate. A socially responsible corporation is one that runs a profitable business that takes account of all the positive and negative environmental, social, and economic effects it has in society.” (C. Marsden)
